Aren't Hand-Made Reeds Expensive?
Commercial Bassoon Reeds are a cheaper base price, and if you have never played the bassoon before, it might sound enticing. That being said, hand-made bassoon reeds have superior quality and tested meaning you won’t get a dud reed. Reeds are tested for playing in the high and low register, articulation clarity, as well as tuning, all of which are vital to learning the bassoon. Moreso, if you also take lessons with me, we will be able to adjust the reed as we learn your playing style. All in all, this leads to better learning and better playing.
